Educators - Coaching, Consulting & Professional Development - What we do

What we do

We provide coaching and professional learning designed for real constraints—time, staffing, competing initiatives, and diverse learner needs. Open Doors Education helps teams strengthen inclusive instruction, collaboration routines, documentation practices, and problem-solving structures so staff can deliver consistent supports and students can experience meaningful learning across settings.

What we build

  • We help teachers build and sustain best-practice habits by serving as a collaborative partner rather than an evaluator. Through regular observation, feedback, and reflective dialogue, the coach helps teachers identify strengths, set focused goals, and refine instructional strategies grounded in research. By modeling effective techniques, co-planning lessons, and analyzing student data together, the coach makes abstract best practices concrete and actionable. Just as importantly, they support consistency—helping teachers turn new strategies into daily habits through ongoing encouragement, accountability, and adjustment. Over time, this relationship fosters a culture of continuous improvement, where effective teaching practices are not one-time initiatives but embedded routines that directly enhance student learning.

  • Through collaboration we can identify strategies, resources, and models that fit the teacher’s context, then helps refine their use through feedback and reflection. This personalized approach ensures the tools are practical, relevant, and more likely to become part of the teacher’s everyday practice.

  • We can strengthen teaming by creating structured opportunities for collaboration, shared goal-setting, and collective reflection. We partner with teams to align on priorities, use common tools and language, and engage in productive dialogue about teaching and learning. By facilitating trust and accountability we support teams in working more cohesively and consistently to improve outcomes for all students.

“We design learning that turns into tools, routines, and observable shifts.”

Educators - Workshops, PLC Support & Coaching Cycles
  • Our workshops provide structured, practical learning experiences that help educators and teams build shared understanding of inclusive practices within learning frameworks (MTSS, UDL, SDI). Participants leave with clear strategies, usable tools, and actionable next steps that connect legal requirements, instructional design, and student support into classroom-ready practices that strengthen collaboration, access, and equitable outcomes across learning environments.

  • PLC support helps educator teams move from discussion to aligned action by using structured collaboration around student needs, instructional planning, data review, and inclusive problem-solving. Through guided protocols and practical tools, PLCs strengthen shared ownership, improve consistency across classrooms, and connect MTSS, UDL, and SDI practices to real decisions that improve access, participation, and student progress.

  • Coaching cycles for individuals and teams provide ongoing, job-embedded support that turns ideas into sustainable practice. Through observation, reflection, planning, feedback, and follow-through, educators strengthen inclusive instruction, collaboration, and service delivery within MTSS, UDL, and SDI frameworks. This process builds confidence, clarifies implementation, and supports measurable improvement in teaching, teaming, and student outcomes.

  • Use screening and progress-monitoring data effectively to identify students in need (consistent with MTSS practice).

  • Workshop on writing IEP goals that link directly to grade-level standards and MTSS interventions (IDEA compliance focus).

  • Establish routines and interventions (from Tier 1 to Tier 3) that prevent referral delays and decrease disproportionality.

  • Techniques to ensure smooth transitions for incoming/outgoing students (e.g., IEP portability and handoffs) and preparing high schoolers for post-school outcomes.

Coaching

  • Support implementation of collaborative planning for general & special educators and related services to co-design instruction.

  • Classroom visits to observe and coach in-the-moment adjustments (providing multiple means of engagement/representation/action).

  • Help teachers select evidence-based interventions at each MTSS tier, monitoring fidelity.

  • Facilitate reflection on data to identify disproportionality in disciplinary actions or referrals, adjusting practice for fairness.

Consulting

  • Clarify roles and structures for sustained alignment.

  • Audit district policies and practices for evidence of inclusive practices.

  • Assist in building a phased implementation plan with milestones, baselines, and accountability measures.
